This innovative course is designed for those with little or no knowledge of English, or even the Latin alphabet, who have an immediate need to learn some English but do not aspire to become fluent in the language. This is not a self-taught course, and the teacher must be fluent in the student's native language as well as competent in English.
Ezenglish teaches a simplified version of English, so they can acquire a basic knowledge quickly. For instance, the articles "the" and "a" are not included; only three tenses--present, past, future--are taught; all verbs (even irregular verbs, except "be", "have", and "do") have their past tense formed by adding "ed" (e.g., "growed" instead of "grew").
The course consists of ten lessons. Lesson 1 teaches the alphabet, numerals, and symbols used in English. Students already familiar with these things can skip this lesson. Lessons 2 and 3—the hardest lessons in the course for many students--deal with the pronunciation of English letters and words. Lessons 4 – 10 cover various aspects of English: parts of speech: verbs, nouns, prepositions, etc.
Exercises are included for each lesson and it expected the student will spend as much time outside of class reviewing what has been taught using the learning aids provided on this website. For each lesson, notes are included as teaching aids. Appendices the student can use to improve their English after they have taken the course are included in the course manual. They include lists of common English words, useful prepositions and adverbs, irregular verb forms, etc.
